Introduction
My name is Meguayen Greene... Meg for short. I am a senior athletic training student at Emory & Henry College. I will be graduating in May of 2019 with a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training.
I began college as a collegiate cross country runner and will be ending college as an Athletic Trainer.
I was born in Lewisville, Tx but raised in Charlotte, NC. After my first year in college my parents moved from Charlotte to New Bern, NC to be near the coast. I have included a picture of my family because they have been my support through sports and now just as a student.

Emory & Henry College
I am graduating from Emory & Henry College in Emory, Va in May of 2019. I faced many challenges during my time at Emory & Henry. I began at E&H in the fall of 2014, I entered E&H as a cross country runner. I had a love for runner like no other. I worked very hard during the fall and finished the season as an All-ODAC second team finisher. During the spring semester I completed my first AT course and was accepted into the athletic training program. Also during the spring, I started to realize that my grades were starting to struggle due to the amount of time they required and the amount of time I wanted to put into running. When returning fall of 2015, my second year, I returned early for preseason for AT. I quickly fell in love with athletic training. I was enrolled in 18 credits, running, and obtaining clinical hours. I quickly began to sink. I struggled with the terminology for AT and my outside classes, I was not able to grasp everything as fast as everyone else was. I started to focus more on cross country then I did AT. When exams rolled around, I decided to put all my attention into my classes and quit cross country. It was a very hard decision to make but needed to be done. I passed all of my classes but do not pass my exit exam for the program, I did not put all my focus toward that, which I needed to in order to succeed. I spent my Christmas break studying for my exit, which was not enough. I had a hard time understanding how I really studied. I did not pass the second time, which meant I was spending the spring semester in remediation. That semester at the time was awful, I was unable to do clinical hours and felt like an outcast. But now I am thankful for it because it made me grow as a student and as an athletic trainer. After completing the semester I made the Dean's list and was able to pass my exit exam getting back into the program. Going into the summer I completed my next round of clinicals and returned to school early to complete hours so then I could continue with my class, however financially was not able to return to school during that semester. So after taking a semester off was able to return in the spring but was a year behind so was in with a different class. At first I felt more like an outcast then I did ever before. However made it through the semester and began to get close with my now class. I realized after so many years in school, that I did not learn like every other student. I needed to spend more time than everyone else. So when exit exams rolled around I spent hours upon hours studying in the depot for my exit exam and passed on the first round. Every semester since Spring 2016 I was able to pass my exit exam on the first round, until Fall of 2018 I studied over 50 hours in three days. I over-studied and then did not perform to my best ability and failed the first round. I studied a little bit over break but not enough to overstudy. I needed to complete my exit exam before returning to school and before I left for London. In fall of 2018, I was accepted to travel abroad with King's College in January before returning to school for my last semester. While in London I wrote about my experience, which is linked below. My last semester was very stressful at times but also some of the best experiences of my life and made some amazing friends that I will never forget. Over the last three years I have also reflected week by week about my experience in the clinic at Emory & Henry and Patrick Henry High School, as well as in the Hospital with wound care, radiology, and physical therapy and general medicine, which are also linked below.
During my last semester I have studied a tremendous amount for my BOC which I am taking in April 2019.

Myers Park High School
I graduated from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC. During my time at Myers Park, I competed in many sports, where my love for athletic training began. I had the most amazing athletic trainer, who taught me many things during my time in high school. I was on varsity cross country, swimming, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. I had a difficult time with accidemices so running was my get away, I loved cross country and thought it would be my life, forever. During my time in high school I was lucky enough to never sustain a serious injury, however prevention was always very important to my team. I was in the training room often taking ice baths with my team. My interest in athletic training went to the next level when I enrolled in a sports medicine class, and from there I knew what I wanted to do in college. I committed to Emory & Henry College of Valentine's Day of 2014 for cross country, little did I know that cross country was not the rest of my life.
