This week was a little hectic, however I would like to start off with saying I was able to gain over 50 attempts in my clinical book as well as over 10 masteries. I started meeting with Brianne weekly so I will not only be able to go over things in my book but also start doing test strips for my exit exam in a month. I received the masteries with Bre during clinical experience, while waiting to go out to baseball and soccer.
This week was a little slow for clinical experience off cite so I was able to do some experience on campus. On Thursday, we were over at Patrick Henry High School, where we were experiencing baseball and soccer. The events did not start until 5, so as I said above we will able to get some attempts in our clinical books. As we were walking out to baseball the head track coach walked up to us with one of his athletes, she was holding her forehead. He said, “As they were using the medicine balls, someone threw the ball while she was not looking, hit her and she hit her head on the ground.” We then began an eval to see if she could have a possible concussion. We asked questions about how she was feeling, where exactly her pain was, and then checked her eye reaction. She was in pain right on the spot where she hit her head, which did not worry us as much as if she said it was all around her whole head. While we were evaling her I realized she was not really out of it and was responding pretty fast to everything we were asking her. Bre pulled her for the rest of the day and told her that if she had any symptoms appear in the next 24 hours to see her in the morning or have her mother call her. Once we finished with her, we walked down to the baseball field; we stayed with them until the second half of the soccer game started. Soccer ended up beating Battle 4 to 1. On Friday I was able to experience with football as well as Saturday. Just so I was able to get a couple more hours for the week so I am not getting behind with my hours. One thing I love most about experiencing with football is all of the taping and treatment opportunities. I am looking forward to this wee because there is a big track meet on Saturday at PH, yay a whole day of clinical experience with track!!
