This week was the start to all of the spring sports in high school, meaning the fun was about to begin. We started off the week at Battle, where we had a varsity men’s soccer game starting at 5. We got to Battle at 3:30 so we were able to do some clinic coverage before the game. At about 4:30 we drove over to the soccer fields, which are located in the back of Sugar Hollow Park. As we were driving up we saw some soccer players down on the practice field with their shirts off, it quickly came to our heads, “did they cancel the game and not tell us?” After we parked we realized that we had parked next to the referee for the game. We asked him if he knew anything about the game being changed, he simply answered with “I wasn’t informed of anything like that.” Bre went up to the coach that was with the team on the practice field and asked why no one was here; he said that they had to cancel the game because the fields were too wet. After that we just headed back to Emory. The next day that I was able to get clinical experience was Wednesday; we were at PH for a load of events including baseball, softball, and soccer. We first started off in the clinic, where Bre reserved a phone call, it was the Holston Track coach, he had a boy that was running with a metal object between his legs and cut open his inner thigh and part of his “manhood” he said the cut looked deep enough for stiches but he wanted to talk to Bre first. She told him to send him to the hospital because he probably needs a tetanus shot. After that call we went out to baseball, in the middle of the game Bre received a call from the track coach saying there was a girl jumper who had jumped and landed odd that was complaining of a knee injury. We were rushed up to the track by the head AD where we saw a girl sitting in the pit, I thought it was her right knee that was injured, however when we started talking to her we found out it was the left knee, she had jumped and hyperextended her knee, her muscles were guarding and tight which is where she was getting the pain from., Bre told her to ice and take and easy for the rest of the day. After returning to the baseball game they ended up winning by one in an extra inning. Then we drove up to soccer where the second half just started, however it went back very fast, they ended up loosing by one. After the soccer game we drove back over to the softball fields and finished out the night with a disappointing lose 10-0.
I did not receive any masteries this week, however I will be setting up meetings with DC to start reviews for my exit exam.
